yes, that is unfortunately correct: In foundation engineering measures an excavator damaged yesterday a glass fiber route of the Versatel net between meals and Dortmund. Particularly the telephone IE and data service in the region west were strongly reduced for this reason between 8.45 o'clock and 19,00 o'clock.

Versatel could the damage directly locate and to 19,00 o'clock then all Versatel services again at full extent make available.

Naturally we would like, if it came with you by the disturbance to incommodities, but to apologize.

It would be beautiful, if still different Provider would take part in the forum. Likewise manufacturers of hard/software.
If necessary. they could give Tipps for problems, and/or offer assistance in concrete contract/DSL/VoIP problems. (Naturally, without dealing with personal details. Those are to be solved then with private Mail.)

Thus my telephone did not fail, but Internet was to today (thus yesterday) tomorrow around approx. 5 o'clock away, if I may trust the log file of the Fritz box.

It is not bad the fact that an excavator the line through-hammers that can happen everywhere, but it is in my eyes already badly that a whole region lies lamely, if only one cable is defective.
There are not it nevertheless less I that expected that a around cable could go broken, when rather Versatel square meter considered obviously never such a thing the which possible for the own lines.

The few Provider afford a full-extent Backupleitung, which not only for load Balancing, but when real replacement for a defective main binding can serve. That is simply too expensive. If then a line route, which is operated anyway typically with 60-80% fatigue strength, precipitates, then a part traffic can be naturally geroutet differently, but there are always impairments.

One has similar effects also with the damage of Tiefseekabeln, e.g. TAE in 2000 or in 2006 after the earthquake, and/or. the cables in the Mediterranean, which were defective some time ago.

The loss of a highway circuit is for a Provider the Worst cheese scenario, i.e. we are pleased now times all that the repair could take place so fast.

We surely still remember the substantial losses T-mobile in 2009 or in the area Frankfurt in 2003 (here were probably no lines, but systems, which failed - the effect for the customers is however the same one).

Happens unfortunately again and again… Completely redundant Backupleitungen and - systems would want to not really pay the customers
